Description:
This webinar was recorded August 14, 2009.
Are you looking for strategies to get your students excited about learning? Do you want to see a surge in programming and software development courses? How about an iPhone app to market your school or program? In this webinar, we explore iPhone and iPod Touch programming and the implications for mobile learning. Whether learning environmental science, nursing, math, engineering, or even how to create their own apps, these and other handheld communication devices offer exciting new opportunities to ignite students' interest in learning and bring your school into the 21st Century.
Hear an interesting perspective from Gabriella Snyder, an undergraduate student in the Computer Science Department at Mount Holyoke College. She has been actively involved in web design and computer programming for over ten years, building and maintaining her website, the Girl's Pokemon Battling Alliance (GPBA.net), designed as a community specifically for female fans of the Pokemon franchise. With her strong programming background, Gabby is now engaged in the development of applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Following an overview of the iPhone SDK, we will discuss:
Integrating mobile communications devices into the classroom and in instruction
Generating new interest in programming and software development
Potential institutional applications
