Concerned with declining enrollment in your tech programs? Join a panel of community college presidents and deans as they explore the issue of sustainability, and respond to the over-arching question, “Will technology education programs as we know them disappear, or be replaced by new models for workforce and economic development?”
Panel:
· Randy Kimmens: Dean of Instruction for Business and Technology, Glendale Community College. Glendale community college, founded in 1965 in Arizona has more than 32,000 students enrolled in a wide variety of degree and certificate programs.
· Dr. Maria Hesse: President and Chief Executive Officer for Chandler-Gilbert Community College. CGCC is a comprehensive college with signature workforce development programs in aviation and information technologies and nationally recognized programs in service learning, learning communities, and civic engagement.
· Linda Smarzik: Dean of Computer Studies and Advanced Technology at Austin Community College. She is instrumental with the startup of South West Advanced Nanotechnology Center (SWANC) and the Game Development Institute at ACC.
Moderator:
· Michael Lesiecki: Executive Director of the Maricopa Advanced Technology Education Center (MATEC) since its inception in 1996. MATEC, a member of the Division of Academic Affairs of the Maricopa Community Colleges, is a National Science Foundation funded center of excellence that supports workforce education efforts in the fields of semiconductor manufacturing, automated manufacturing and electronics.
