New Job Education
Education July 10th, 2007Once again I am working on my presentation for our conference. Part of the presentation will be me showing “Did You Know…” and discussing a few aspects of it more in depth. A few slides from Did You Know have really caught my attention: “According to former Secretary of Education Richard Riley, the top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010 didn’t exists in 2004. We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exists.”
Lately, there are few areas of education that has so many changes happening than in the technology areas. It can almost seem like an overwhelming task to keep up.
Think back a few years ago.
Instructors: What jobs were you preparing your students for? Now what jobs are you preparing students for? What has changed in the way that you teach? Is there anything that has surprised you?
Those in industry: What jobs were your company hiring graduates for? Now what are you hiring for? Is there anything that has surprised you?
I do confess, any responses I get, I will probably be putting into my presentation as examples!
