NetWorks had a very successful webinar last Friday on Technical Program Recruitment: Ten Tips to Thinking Outside the Box. The webinar had over 100 registrants, and close to everyone showed up. Some program chairs made it a department meeting so I am sure there were more people than we knew about. One of the constant themes of Terry Bartelt’s Ten Tips focused on Customer Relations.

It is odd to think of our students as customers or potential customers. But, Terry is correct that we need to approach our students as customers to our programs in order to help in keeping them in. Our programs are our products. If a student does not feel welcome when they enter the building, they will go elsewhere. That means personal contact, following up with potential students, as well as current and former students. Just sending a letter out lets the students know that you care about them. This is maybe a new way of thinking.

If you were at the webinar, what tips did you like the best? Which ones will you implement?

If you were not able to attend the webinar, you can view it at http://www.matecnetworks.org/ keyword search “webinar ten tips”. You can also look at the slides (“ten tips slides”) separately.

What ideas do you have to share to increase enrollements?
