How Learning Objects Saved the Day
Introduction, Automated Manufacturing, Education, Electronics, Semiconductors April 9th, 2008I was out of town last week at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY, taking a look at the new software updates for the HAS-200 by SMC corp. The HAS-200, a machine that, in essence, is a scaled down version of an automated product processing plant. It is used to train students in how to run the automated machines, PLCs, etc.
Anyway, after the meeting I was able to visit a friend who teaches English at Sullivan Community College. We were discussing what I do for NetWorks and what she teaches. She was have some difficulty getting the students to understand some concepts and she needed a new way of reaching them. I laughed because I knew exactly what she needed.
Learning Objects. I told her about Learning Objects. She didn’t know what a learning object is. Do you? Have you ever used learning objects in your classroom? Learning objects can be used for any subject. I explained to her, which, she was skeptical after my explanation. And then I showed her Wisc-online’s 2200 learning objects. After that, she was hooked because she saw what learning objects are and right away was planning on using them for her classroom. In fact, we spent an hour looking at different learning objects.
My friend wished she knew how to create learning objects that she didn’t find. I laughed again because her wish was something I could grant. If you want to know what learning objects are and how to use them, come this Friday. NetWorks will have a webinar with Terry Bartlelt on Learning Objects: What are they? How do you use them? Once you know what they are and how to use them, next Friday, April 18, Dave Bunnow will teach everyone how to create learning objects. Terry and Dave have created hundreds of learning objects.
Do you want a better way to reach your students that is quick? Are you tired of answering the same question a billion times in a week? Is there a test question that your students just keep missing because they are having a hard time with concepts? Come learn about Learning Objects, how to use them, and how to create them this week and next at the upcoming webinars (click here to register). Find out how Learning Objects can save the day for you and your students.
