Recap on Recruiting Women Webinar
Webinars October 13th, 2008Do you ever have a day where you are just waiting for things to go wrong? That was Friday for me. Of course, that was the day NetWorks had its free webinar: Recruiting Women into Technical Programs with Celeste Baine. Because of construction by my kid’s school, we waited in line to turn into the school for ten minutes (when normally there is no line). The bell rang just as they got to the doors. But this made me late in dropping off my son at his preschool - where I discovered I forgot his lunch. I get to the office and I realized that I had left some paperwork at home. Then when going to Elluminate, I rushed and put up the wrong slides. Then tried to print my script but it didn’t go to the printer, so I printed it again, and found out I was printing to the wrong printer. I started having trouble with my system and it crashed. A few other things.
By the time the webinar came, I was completely sure something would go wrong. But Celeste Baine gave a great presentation. We made it through and were going to talk about the survey before answering final questions - when my connection became a disconnectiong. I went to my backup computer and found out it did the same thing. As did another at our office. I was hoping that it was just our office. When I got back on a minute or two later, everyone I found out had been kicked out somehow - but the recording was still going. It didn’t phase Celeste at all. We picked up where we left off and she stayed and answered questions for twenty more minutes.
Nothing else went wrong that day. Go figure. Thanks again to Celeste Baine for her wonderful presentation and for allowing us to put her slides into the library.
