Time to be Thankful
Misc. November 26th, 2008With tomorrow Thanksgiving, I figure that I should list all the things that I am thankful for (and since this is a work blog, I will focus more on that aspect).
Family – I am lucky, I have a great family, and great in-laws.
Job – I have a job that is not affected by the downturn of the economy – though, being grant driven, that does have its own risks. I am also thankful for the people I work with – Mike Lesiecki is a great boss, and the NetWorks team, Tom McGlew, Lara Sayer, and Darlene Cieplinski, really make this a wonderful place to work at, and truly a team job. The rest of the team of MATEC is also really good to work with. This job has brought many opportunities to meet and work with some excellent people from across the country: Gordon Snyder, Mike Qaissaunee, Bob Decker, Bill Judycki, Terry Bartelt, Karl Kapp, and Larry Geczy. It is always a warm feeling to be at a conference for the first time and have someone call your name and invite you to their table. I have done a lot of work with them and they have helped me greatly. I can truly say that working at MATEC NetWorks has been one of the best jobs I have ever had.
Technology – so much out there, it makes it hard to pick – the iPhone (yes, I don’t have one, but I am thankful that it has made the phone makers think outside the box), heck, I’m not sure what else to say because a lot of technology we take for granted, like it has been there all the time. If I had to pick one thing, I guess it would be the printing press because I love to read.
These are some of the things I am thankful for. If you had to pick a technology to be thankful for, what would it be?

Thanks for the plug Mark and thanks to all of you out there (warm weather!) in Arizona for all the great stuff you are doing. Looking forward to another year of hard work with a great bunch of friends like yourself!
Your question – the technology I’m most thankful for – I’d go with TCP/IP and everything it brings to us!
Enjoy tomorrow!!
