Biggest Solar Roof
Alternative Energy March 5th, 2009What can you do with a flat roof that receives lots of sun? Put solar panels on them. Alantic City did this with their convention center, making this the biggest solar roof. - they are able to generate about 24% of the convention center’s energy.
The 13,321 photovoltaic panels will produce an average of 26 percent of the convention center’s energy, according to consultants. The panels cover most of the roof’s usable space, leaving room for walkways and other equipment.
Phoenix did this with their convention center as well, but not on as large of a scale (only a 100kW – which makes Phoenix effort very small compared to Alantic City). Hopefully there will come a day when every flat roof in a city has solar panels.
