With NetWorks webinar on Intro to Nano coming up this Friday, I asked a few question to Amy Brunner, Research Associate at Penn State, and part of the NACK Center.

What sparked your interest in nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology caught my attention because I saw the power that it had to allow me to transfer into different industries with the same fundamental skills. I also like diversity and technology is constantly evolving. This makes every day a new adventure to stay ahead of the game.

What is a “wow” moment you have had in working in the nano field?

I think one of the most rewarding aspects of working in this field is when an idea turns into a reality. Since you can’t see the devices you are fabricating you rely heavily on imagination and engineering strategy. When it comes time to test and things go as you predicted you can’t help but smile. Those are the moments that keep me going.
