As I was driving along to work I heard the start of an National Public Radio (NPR) series on the Smart Grid and the Electrical Lines of America.  Since I am starting to blog about the Energy Utlization Center (EUC), this was a great series for me to look up on their website.

In a series of stories airing this week on Morning Edition and All Things Considered and published here on NPR.org, we examine the costs, the politics and other challenges of upgrading the country’s electricity grid.

Here is the start to the series on NPR on upgrading to Smart Grid and the challenge, etc., facing it.  This link also has the interactive map, “Visualizing the Electric Grid“  The map is real cool, you can check out the following: The Grid, Sources of Power, Power Plants, Solar Power, and Wind Power Maps.

The series home page has links to the following stories: Series Overview:  Electricity in AmericaPart 1:  An Aged Grid Looks to a Brighter FuturePart 2:  Green Challenge:  Make Renewables Reliable

Lots of good reading (or listening since it is NPRadio).
