Phoenix Area 23rd for High-Tech Jobs

June 4th, 2009An article came out June 3, in the Phoenix Business Journal stating that the Phoenix area ranks 23rd on a list of high-tech metropolitan areas, according to a study by the Milken Institute. That’s a drop of three spots from the No. 20 ranking the area earned in 2003, the last year the study was conducted.
The top five were respectively: San Jose, Seattle, Cambridge, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, all of which ranked in the top 5 during the 2003 study as well.
The region fared well in terms of its semiconductor industry, ranked in the top 5 nationally, as well medical and diagnostic laboratories and aerospace product and parts manufacturing.
Additionally, San Jose, Calif., ranked as the top spot for high-tech work, followed by Seattle; Cambridge, Mass.; the Washington-Arlington area; Los Angeles; Dallas; San Diego; the Santa Ana and Anaheim, Calif., area; New York; and San Francisco.
