Assessing Impact
Education, Webinars February 8th, 2010Assessing impact is very important if you are an instructor or assessing a NSF project. Last week I was lucky enough to attend a Evaua|t|e workshop on Assessing with Joellen Killion, of the National Staff Development Council, as the presenter. It was an excellent workshop and I learned a lot. One of the take aways I had was KASAB.
Anyone recognize what KASAB means?
Knowledge - conceptual understanding
Attitude - beliefs about the value of the information / stratigies
Skill - ability to use stratigies and apply knowledge
Aspiration - desire, internal motivation
Behavior - consistent applications of knowledge and skills
Often times what gets measured is Knowledge and Skill, but what I learned is you must measure the whole KASAB.
Speaking of Assessing Impact, NetWorks is going to have a webinar on Assessing Student Impact this Friday. Of course, the webinar is free and you can register at the NetWorks Professional Growth page. The description is as follows:
Educators increasingly have to face the question, “How is what you are doing impacting student learning?”. Student impact is a crucial indicator that is often overlooked or poorly reported. However, when accurately measured, these results can further shape program development by identifying areas of weakness and providing evidence of student success. Gain expert insight and learn what works from industry, education and evaluation expert panelists.
I hope to see you there!
