Food and some small things thrown in
Education, Nanotechnology, Webinars June 22nd, 2010Food is always a glorious subject to write about. But, have you wondered why nanotechnologist are so interested in food? Have you ever wondered what nano products are put into food and why? This Thursday is a wonderful opportunity to find out all about the science of food and nanotechnology, and how nanotechnology is helping the food industry. Join us for this free webinar that is produced by NACK and MATEC NetWorks.
Nanotechnology really does impact a wide range of industries. You may be under the impression that it is limited to electronics, but it actually spans across many different disciplines. The food industry is another sector that is very interested in how nanotechnology can improve current production methods. Traditional fabrication methods, along with new techniques in self-assembly, are being applied to food processing. Food scientists and engineers are working to improve nutritional content and delivery, packaging, and the ability to track and monitor products over time.
NACK Center staff will give an overview of how nanotechnology is impacting the food industry by providing some examples of recent advancements in this area. Current research will also be discussed to bring some insight into where the future of food processing may be heading. You may be surprised to learn that the food industry is already taking advantage of these modifications based at the nano-scale.
This is free. It is fascinating. See you this Thursday!
